It's been awhile

Yes, it has! I posted in October and haven't been back since. Much has happened since then!

We're 1 year post fire and all that came with that. 1 year of moving into our new place. 5 months since Ellie and I started our new journey of food control. Have we stuck to it? Well, for the most part we have. I'm down 23 pounds. Doesn't sound like much in 5 months, but you know what? I'm happy with it. Slow and steady is what really helps. I haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks. I've been maintaining but not trying to lose. That's what is going to happen starting tomorrow! Back at the 'weight loss' part of it all.

Ellie lost 8 pounds right off the get go. She's in so much more control of her eating habits and watching it all. She goes for the salad more then something carb filled or sweet. That was our goal with her. So she is doing great with it all!

Mamma Mia has started up and is going on full force. 3 ish weeks until we open. This time around Nic is doing this musical with me. This is so exciting because it is now something we share! I love being able to share this with him and being able to see him grow with something new to try. Who knows, maybe this opened his eyes up to something he may fall in love with like I have!

That is all for now! Until next time...

Back at it ... again

Yup! Again..

I know I know I’ve said that a few times and I mean it this time.

Over the last 3 ish years we’ve had lots of ups and downs in our family life. I was diagnosis’s with uterine tumors, had a complete hysterectomy. My health was on the down side of things.

7 months ago we had a house fire and lots everything in the house including a few pets. We are in a new place now and loving it.

Last big thing was my daughter being diagnosed pre diabetic. That was the game changer. Now we have to change her eating habits to get her out of this ‘pre’ stage. It can be done and we will do it!

So what did I do? I’ll tell you. I sat down and wrote a meal plan for 2 weeks. I wrote down all the awesome snacks and breakfasts we can eat. The. I went shopping. 3 hours of shopping! Getting all the little containers for snacks and lunches. Getting her a new lunch box to take to school. Pinterest-ed smoothie recipes and lunch items. And I learned to tell her no to her all time favorite morning drink of A sugar filled, energy drink from our local coffee stand. That was tough.

I know how to meal plan. I know how to shop for the meal plan. I know how to eat right. I just needed a reason to do it again. I have my reason, I have my why!

I have joined up with Ellie to show her this can be done! Even though I know I need to go Paleo (it’s what works best for my metabolism), I’m converting Ellie to Primal. She loves the dairy and dairy by no means does anything to her system.

So here we go .... again!

Back at it again!!

Just like that title says! I'm back at it again! Losing weight, blogging, living a wonderful life. I have made a commitment to myself once again to lose weight! Here's my story of what has happened over the last year!

I gained quite a bit of my weight back after getting 'sick' summer on 2016. I wasn't feeling good, bloated, just lack of energy even though I was still trying to eat healthy. Was in and out of the doctors office. Several doctors. After blood work, ultrasounds and even biopsies. I found that I had 2 fibroid tumors the size of golf balls, in my uterus. Over 50% of women get these. Of those women 90% have no issues and some don't even realize they have them. I was the (un)lucky 10%. I was bleeding heavy, cramping, just having lots of issues functioning and not feeling well. 1 doctor gave me medicine and said this will stop the bleeding and then you'll be fine.

After 2 months of the pills, I still wasn't feeling right. Even though the bleeding had stopped I was still cramping and just not feeling myself. I decided to go see a specialist in Seattle. She did another ultrasound and compared it to my one just 3 1/2 months before and my fibroids where now the size of tennis balls. She wanted to do surgery as soon as we could. A hysterectomy would get rid of all the issues. Leaving. My ovaries soiwouldnt haveany hormone issues but taking everything else. My fibroids here the uncommon ones that grew rapidly. I was already looking like I was 6 months pregnant. So surgery would have to be done as a c-section. We schedule surgery for December.

Surgery day came, I went in, got prepped, knew I would be there over night. Surgery was supposed to take 2 hours, it took 4 hours! Double the time! The next morning she told me what had happened.

It had been 2 1/2 months since she saw my fibroids as tennis balls. When she got in there, my 2 fibroids were softball sizes AND I had 30-40 large pea size fibroids that had formed. She had to scoop all the fibroids out before she could even get the uterus out. My uterus was so enlarged my bladder had to be peeled off of it before she could take it out. She had to cut my uterus into quarters in order to get it all out. I was very fortunate to get this all taken care of in the time that I did.

Recovery was going to be 6-8 weeks before I could go back to work. But even a little longer before I fully felt like myself. Which she told me at that time that I needed to take my weight back because it was so hard to get inside my pelvic area!

It had been 6 months since surgery (in June)-!: I was beginning to feel like myself. July 5th I started all Paleo back up. Back to my eating habits, clean eating, walking. All the things I have done before. Here I am, almost 4 weeks into taking my life back and I am already down 16 pounds!

I've got this. I've rolled right back into the old way! It's like riding a bike! Can't wait to get back to where I was!  I will get there!

Till next time!

Ending day 3 DSD

I missed blogging yesterday. We had terrible things going on at home with broken pipes and moldy walls and such. Thankfully no big damage and we caught it quick and able to get it all taken care off.

Day 2 was great stuck with it. Today has been a pit slower. I feel like I'm dragging. I know after doing this a few times that day 2-5 is the bad days. So, also through it. I'm sure I'll start to feel better tomorrow! :)

No cheats, no hick ups or anything! It's been good so far. I'm enjoying some green mint tea this evening!

Day 1 of my 2015 21DSD

Success!!!! Yes!

No cheats not even the urge! My mind was on all my food not on anything else! I must say I am very proud of myself! I drank 80 oz of water and stuck to my meals and snacks!! Woo hoo!

No headaches today, no real sugar cravings. I had a pretty awesome day!

I had a wonderful dinner of spaghetti made with spaghetti squash. I do think I will be taking some for lunch tomorrow! As long as I stay on this track all will be great!!

Starting off 2015 with a 21DSD

Tomorrow is the day!!! I'm going to start a 21 day sugar detox! I'm ready! I've let my Paleo slide style slide just enough that I'm ready to take control back.

Today I have prepped, made soups, pulled meat out of the freezer and chopped veggies. I'm ready to conquer the 21 days, 1 week at a time, 1 day at a time, 1 meal at a time.

This is the year that I'm going to finally hit my goal weight and goal size. I have clothes in my closet I have bought over the last couple of years that I have just been waiting to get into. So, now is the time.

I'm hoping that during this journey I will blog and post pictures showing my journey and how stressful and/or successful my 21 day journey is going to be! I have daily emails from the 21DSD site for motivation, tips, tricks and suggestions if I need them. Blogs and wise words from others that have gone through their journey on the 21 days! I have done this a handful of times before with success but have never blogged about it!

Here's to a successful 21 days!!
Till next time...

Pineapple chicken

I've been making this for a couple of years now and can't believe I haven't posted it! Would never have known I haven't shared it until someone asked me today for the recipe and I said 'oh it's on my Facebook page or my blog' guess what!?!? Well, it is now!

As you may all know by know, my recipes make a lot of servings because I'm always feeding 6-8 people and need left overs for lunch. So if you are only making for 2-4 either half the recipe of prepare to freeze it for later! :)

Pineapple -crockpot- chicken
3 (ish) pounds of boneless skinless chicken
1 pineapple slices to bite sizes
1/2 c honey
1-2 bell pepper
4 cloves garlic
Salt to taste

I slice, dice and measure everything up and then toss it all in the crockpot.
Set I to low and let it go for about 6-8 hours.
Hubby loves this over a bed of rice and I love it over quinoa! :)

If I feel a little spunky I will grate or dice finely a jalapeƱo and toss it in there too, just to give it a little kick! Super yummy and the kids love it! :)

Till next time!
